Croatia is investing 500 million euros in batteries for energy storage
The Croatian government has prepared 500 million euros to install batteries for storing energy produced from renewable sources.
Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Damir Habijan stated that Croatia is ready for energy changes. As he pointed out, we should take care of the green transition of the energy system, but also of security of supply.
Thanks to the National Program for Recovery and Resilience (NPOO) and the European Commission's REPowerEU plan, Croatia received 1.6 billion euros, stated Habijan at the 7th International Conference of the Adriatic Pipeline (Janaf) "The EU's New Energy Paradigm: Are We Ready for Change?" HINA reported.
Batteries for RES producers
Part of these funds will be used to expand the capacity of the liquefied natural gas terminal, and the rest of the money will go to the green transition, so around 500 million euros will be earmarked for large batteries.
These storages will be used by all electricity producers from renewable sources who will not immediately deliver energy to the transmission network, but will use batteries for its storage.
Janaf Management Board President Stjepan Adanić announced that the company will diversify its operations.
Janaf's goal is to become an energy company by investing in solar, geothermal, wind energy and geothermal energy, and hopes that Janaf will grow into a respectable energy company, Adanić pointed out.
The conference brought together almost 250 participants, among whom were leading European oil and energy experts, business partners of JANAF, representatives of energy companies, the academic and professional public, and the Diplomatic Corps.
