EU, over $1 million in specialized equipment for Albanian police against arms trafficking

The European Union (EU) has provided Albania's State Police with over $1 million in specialized equipment to combat arms trafficking, according to recent reports. This donation, facilitated through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) Control Programme (SEESAC), aims to enhance the capabilities of Albanian law enforcement in detecting, investigating, and preventing illegal firearms activities.
The equipment, valued at $1,192,782, includes tools for border and criminal police, such as metal detectors, thermal cameras, x-ray scanners, and explosive and crime scene detection kits. This donation is part of a broader effort by the EU to support Albania in strengthening its response to organized crime and illicit arms flows, aligning with the EU's commitment to regional security and stability in the Western Balkans.
