Minister of Finance Ervin Mete signed with the Vice President of the World Bank, Mrs. Antonella Bassani the financing agreement of the "Clean and sustainable environment for the Blue Sea" project.
The objective of the project, for which the World Bank will provide a financing of 80 million dollars, is the reduction of pollution in the water environment (seas, rivers) in the southwestern area, in function of the sustainable development of tourism.
The project is divided into three components, where the first part deals with the promotion of an integrated and circular approach to the protection of the environment and water resources.
The second part of the project aims to reduce pollution in the Vjosa River, this also within the framework of its further support and protection, after the granting of the "National Park" status, as the last wild river in Europe. The project will aim at the expansion of the cleaning infrastructure, its further improvement, as well as the prevention of pollution.
