Works have begun on the upgrade of the Divulje Central Wastewater Treatment Plant

The opening ceremony of the works on the upgrade of the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant Divulje (CUPOV) as part of the project "Improvement of the Water and Utilities Infrastructure of the Kaštela – Trogir Agglomeration" was held. This is a key infrastructure project that will enable a higher level of wastewater treatment in the Kaštela and Trogir area and significantly contribute to environmental protection and compliance with European environmental standards.
The opening ceremony was attended by the General Director of Croatian Waters Zoran Đuroković, the Director of the Water Management Department for the Southern Adriatic Basins Irina Putica, the Deputy Prefect of Split-Dalmatia County Ante Šošić, the Mayor of Kaštela Denis Ivanović, his deputy Antonio Budimir, and the Director of Split Waterworks and Sewage Miroslav Delić.
The project "Improvement of the Water and Utilities Infrastructure of the Kaštela – Trogir Agglomeration" represents one of the largest investments in the water and utilities sector in Croatia with a total value of 244.76 million euros. The project is divided into two phases, and the implementation of phase 2 is currently underway. The currently active second phase of the project is worth 119.19 million euros, of which approximately 70% is financed by European Union grants from the Cohesion Fund, while the rest is covered by national funds and local partners, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, Croatian Waters and Vodovod i kanalizacija Split.
The CUPOV upgrade project is worth 24.44 million euros and includes the upgrade of the existing plant from the first to the second stage of wastewater treatment. In addition, work is planned to regulate the Slanac torrent stream, which will provide space for the expansion of the plant and further improve environmental protection.
The Director of Hrvatske vode, Zoran Đuroković, pointed out that Hrvatske vode is intensively implementing agglomeration projects across the country, with the Kaštela - Trogir agglomeration project representing one of the largest and most significant infrastructure projects in Croatia. He added that achieving a higher level of wastewater treatment directly contributes to meeting the high environmental standards prescribed by the European Union.

Upon completion of the project, an additional 7,700 residents will be connected to the water supply network and 32,477 residents to the sewage system, increasing the sewage connection rate from the current 45% to as much as 97%. In this way, the water and utility infrastructure in the area of Kaštela, Trogir, Čiovo, Seget, Okrug and Slatina will be significantly improved, providing residents with a higher quality, safer and more sustainable water supply and sewage system.
