With the support of the European Union, the Adventure Park in Plužine was opened and the joint Foča - Plužine Tourism Development Strategy was presented

Today, the Adventure Park was officially opened in Plužine and the Integrated Strategy for the Development of a Sustainable Tourist Destination Foča – Plužine 2026–2030 was presented, as part of the cross-border cooperation project “Tourism, Adrenaline and Rafting Adventure v.2.0 – T.A.R.A v.2.0” funded by the European Union.

The event confirmed the joint commitment of the partners from Plužine and Foča to connect the tourist offer through cross-border cooperation, improve infrastructure and services, and jointly develop a destination based on natural potential and active tourism.

With the opening of the Adventure Park, Plužine has gained new content intended for fans of active living, nature, and adrenaline activities. The park is designed as a space for different categories of visitors and represents a significant contribution to the improvement of the tourist offer of the cross-border area and the development of active tourism.

The ceremony brought together representatives of local and national institutions, the European Union, the tourism sector, as well as partners and stakeholders involved in the development of the cross-border tourist destination Foča – Plužine.

Opening today's program, the Mayor of Plužine, Slobodan Delić, emphasized the importance of continuing the joint work of Foča and Plužine on the development of the tourist offer.

"Today is an important day for Plužine, but also for our joint tourism story with Foča. By opening the Adventure Park, we are further enriching the tourist offer and creating new content for visitors. We are especially pleased that this is already the third joint project of Foča and Plužine, which confirms that our partnership brings concrete results. We thank the European Union for its support, which through such projects contributes to the development of the tourist offer and the connection of our local communities. I believe that this will be an incentive for new joint projects and the further positioning of Foča and Plužine as a unique tourist destination," said Delić.

The Deputy Mayor of the City of Foča, Vesna Rašević, also spoke about the importance of long-term cooperation, emphasizing that joint projects contribute not only to connecting the two destinations, but also to creating concrete content and new opportunities for the local economy.

"Foča and Plužine have been showing for years that by working together we can create a concrete and higher quality tourist offer. It is especially important to us that through our projects we not only connect the two destinations, but also create content that can extend the stay of guests and contribute to the development of the local economy. The adventure park in Plužine is another example of such an approach and we are pleased that it will be part of the joint tourist offer of Foča and Plužine," said Rašević.

The event also presented the Integrated Strategy for the Development of a Sustainable Tourist Destination Foča - Plužine 2026-2030, a document that sets a common framework for the development of tourism in the area of ​​the two local communities. The vision of the Strategy is for Foča and Plužine to be an internationally recognized integrated cross-border destination of active and sustainable tourism.

The Strategy defines four strategic priorities: development of an integrated and recognizable cross-border destination; improvement of tourism infrastructure, accessibility and quality of services; development and connection of the tourism offer of the two municipalities; and strengthening of visitor safety and risk management systems. Special emphasis is placed on nature protection, involvement of the local community and digital visibility of the destination, and an integral part of the Strategy is an action plan for the next five-year period.

Speaking about the importance of the project and the support of the European Union, the Programme Manager for Territorial Cooperation of the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro, Melanie Bride, emphasized that such projects represent a concrete and visible contribution to local communities.

"For the European Union, this project represents exactly what we provide support for - a concrete and visible impact of our investments on citizens and local communities. European integration is not only a matter of negotiations and policies, but also of real projects that improve the tourism offer, attract visitors and bring new energy to local communities. We are pleased to witness the good use of European Union funds and are proud to have supported the implementation of this project," said Bride.

The Programme Manager of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Edbera Biković, particularly highlighted the contribution of the partners from Plužine and Foča, emphasizing the importance of cross-border cooperation in the valorization of the natural and cultural potential of this area.

"A special contribution to the implementation of the project was made by the partners from Plužine and Foča, whose joint work, creativity and dedication enabled the improvement of tourist facilities and attractions, which will benefit both the local population and visitors. The European Union is committed to supporting the countries of the Western Balkans in the valorization of their cultural heritage and natural potential, and cross-border cooperation plays a particularly important role in this, as it opens up opportunities for connecting and developing joint tourism products. This project is an example of such cooperation," said Biković.

After the ceremonial ribbon cutting, guests toured the park with a presentation of the content and adventure routes.

The adventure park was built as part of the T.A.R.A v.2.0 project, implemented by the Municipality of Plužine, the City of Foča, the Piva Nature Park and the Tourist Organization of the City of Foča, with the financial support of the European Union through the IPA III Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro 2021–2027. The implementation of the project began on 1 December 2024 and will last until 30 November 2026. The total value of the project is approximately 530,000 euros, of which the European Union contribution is 447,200 euros.
