Water supply completed for Zamaslina, Konštari and Broci

The completion and commissioning of the water supply system for the settlements of Zamaslina, Konštari and Broce was officially celebrated in the municipality of Ston. These settlements have been provided with conditions for a permanent supply of drinking water for the first time, while the existing network in Broce was reconstructed. It is particularly significant that the seaside settlement of Zamaslina has not had a water supply system built at all until now.
The project worth 2.23 million euros was started in 2015, and to date more than 7 kilometers of the network have been completed and the Maslina pumping station has been built. So far, 83% of the total value, or 1.86 million euros, has been realized. Completion and the use permit are expected at the end of May 2025.
Croatian Waters and the Government of the Republic of Croatia played a key role in the completion of the project. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy General Director of Croatian Waters, Valentin Dujmović, who pointed out that the project began in 2015, while he was the Director of Vodovod Dubrovnik, and is now being successfully completed within Croatian Waters thanks to the cooperation of all stakeholders, from employees of Vodovod Dubrovnik, through local committees and the Municipality of Ston, to the residents themselves. He particularly emphasized the importance of the support of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, which secured financing for the project through the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (RRM), emphasizing that without such institutional support, such infrastructural advances in small and long-neglected communities would not have been possible. He also added that the RRM is a key instrument of the European Union that enables concrete investments at the local level, especially in the water management and environmental protection sectors.
According to the Mayor of the Municipality of Ston, Vedran Antunica, the Municipality participated in the financing with 10% of the total value, while the remaining funds were provided by Croatian Waters, EU funds and the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
Today marks the symbolic end of the decades-long effort to get water to Zamaslina, Konštar and Broc, which represents an important step forward in raising the standard of living and developing tourism in these settlements.
