UNDP Hands Over To The Forensic Agency Specialized Equipment Valued At Over 90,000 Euro

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) handed over specialized forensic equipment valued at more than $110,000 to the Forensic Agency during an official ceremony held at the Agency’s headquarters in Pristina.

The donation included an advanced ToolScan System, designed to strengthen the Agency’s capacity in firearms examination. Following the handover, participants visited the Ballistics Division, where forensic experts demonstrated the new equipment, including Borescopes, Stereo Microscopes, and the TriggerScan System, highlighting their importance in improving the precision and efficiency of ballistic analyses.

The new equipment marks a significant advance in the Agency’s analytical capabilities. The ToolScan System enables experts to perform more accurate and efficient analyses of ballistic evidence, contributing to faster firearm identification, improved case linkages and stronger evidentiary support in judicial processes.

“The equipment handed over today represents an important step forward in enhancing the Forensic Agency’s ability to provide the independent, science-based expertise essential for justice, community safety and the prevention of armed violence,” said Dudley Tarlton, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative.

Shemsi Duqiri, Executive Director of the Forensic Agency, expressed appreciation for UNDP’s continued partnership and support, underscoring the importance of modern forensic tools in strengthening the quality and credibility of forensic services.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Embassies of Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, Norway and the European Union Office, reaffirming international commitment to improving public safety and aligning local practices with regional and global arms control standards.

The handover formed part of UNDP’s Safety and Security Programme, funded by the governments of Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom and Norway, with the support of the European Union. The initiative contributes to the implementation of the Regional Roadmap on Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) Control 2025–2030, which aims to reduce the risks associated with small arms proliferation and promote regional security cooperation.

UNDP and the Forensic Agency have a longstanding partnership focused on institutional strengthening, modernization of infrastructure and enhancement of professional expertise. Through this collaboration, we continue to work towards a safer and more secure environment for all.
