Gonzato: 14 cultural heritage sites renovated in Albania

According to Gonzatos, “this program is one of the largest and most ambitious cultural heritage programs ever funded by the EU in the Western Balkans.”

Through the “EU4 Culture” program, the European Union has already renovated 14 cultural heritage sites, while work is continuing on 9 other sites in Albania.

The European Union Ambassador to Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, stated at the inauguration ceremony of the restoration works of the Ethnographic Museum in Krujë, 35 kilometers northeast of Tirana, that “today is truly a very important day, a significant milestone in the EU’s cultural program, a program that we launched after the 2019 earthquake with the aim to support Albania’s cultural heritage and promote local economic development, because both go hand in hand.”

“This program is one of the largest and most ambitious cultural heritage programs that the EU has ever funded in the Western Balkans, thus showing the EU’s solidarity at its best and testifying to the great relations we have between the EU and Albania,” Gonzato said.

“We have already renovated 14 cultural heritage sites, while work is continuing on 9 other sites in Albania,” he emphasized.

“This is not just about renovating buildings, but also about celebrating together the diversity of Albania’s cultural heritage. This museum is a wonderful example of Albania’s historical wealth,” he said./ (July 24)
