EU Project LIFEGATE: Strengthening Capacities for the Prevention of Cardiovascular and Malignant Diseases
A partner meeting was held in Podgorica as part of the LIFEGATE project – Linking International Facilities for Early Detection and Global Access to Treatment and Evaluation, which is being implemented through the Interreg VI-A IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro 2021–2027.
The objective of the project, which lasts 36 months, is to strengthen the capacities of healthcare institutions in the field of early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of malignant and cardiovascular diseases through the improvement of equipment, professional knowledge, and digital solutions.
Through this project, the European Union has allocated approximately €2.6 million for Montenegro’s healthcare system.
Within the project, activities in Montenegro will be implemented by the Clinical Centre of Montenegro (KCCG) and the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro (IJZCG). Through the procurement of modern equipment, the development of software solutions, and staff training, they will significantly improve their services, particularly in the area of prevention and treatment of diseases that place the greatest burden on public health.
During the meeting, the project partners presented information on the current status of project implementation activities, with particular emphasis on the results achieved so far and progress in carrying out the planned tasks.
Special attention was devoted, as emphasized by the Clinical Centre of Montenegro, to planning the next phase of project implementation, during which the partners defined the key activities to be carried out over the next four months.
The partner meeting, as concluded by KCCG, once again confirmed the commitment of all partners to the common goal of creating a more accessible, resilient, and efficient healthcare system for citizens of the cross-border area.
