EU project brings modern system for detecting vacant parking spaces to Bar

 The Municipality of Bar has successfully completed the establishment of a modern system for detecting free parking spaces within the framework of the European CITYMOVE project, which has made a significant step towards more efficient traffic management and improving the quality of life of citizens. 

The CITYMOVE project, worth almost 1.6 million euros, is co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg IPA ADRION program. The lead partner is the Municipality of Bar, which, together with partners from seven countries, is developing innovative solutions for sustainable urban mobility, with the aim of creating more efficient, safer and better quality urban transport for all citizens. 

The new system allows drivers to receive real-time information about available parking spaces on Branka Čalovića Street and Marshal Tito Street. 

Information on the occupancy of parking spaces is available to citizens via the Parking Servis Bar website https://parkingservisbar.me/slobodna-mjesta/ , and now also directly on the ground via six newly installed information LED displays. 

The system includes 245 parking spaces, and is based on a network of smart sensors that communicate wirelessly with the central software and the newly equipped monitoring center in Parking Servis Bar. 

"The establishment of this system represents the first pilot activity of smart parking management in the Municipality of Bar and an important step towards the development of modern, sustainable and digitally connected traffic. Timely information on free parking spaces enables more efficient use of existing parking capacities," the Municipality of Bar emphasizes. 

The Municipality of Bar emphasizes that a second phase of parking system development is planned, which will include the installation of an additional 250 parking sensors. Funds from the Municipality's budget will be allocated for the implementation of this phase.
