EU for better business conditions in Preševo - the industrial zone is being equipped
In Preševo, with the support of the European Union (EU), works on the construction of communal infrastructure in the Čukarka Industrial Zone have begun in order to create conditions for attracting investments and creating jobs. Grant funds in the amount of almost 620,000 euros, which the EU provided through the EU PRO Plus program in cooperation with the Ministry of European Integration, will be used for the construction of fecal and atmospheric sewage, water supply network, road, as well as the installation of public lighting.
"By completing the works on the communal infrastructure in the industrial zone, with an area of 16ha, we will provide favorable conditions for business in the municipality. As the zone is located near Corridor 10, it has a great potential for investments and strengthening of the local economy, which leads to the creation of jobs and a better standard of living for our fellow citizens", said the president of the municipality of Preševo, Ardita Sinani. The municipality of Preševo participates in the implementation of this project with a significant amount of 544,000 euros.
“With the support of the European Union and in cooperation with the Ministry of European Integration, the municipality of Preševo has started work on the infrastructural equipment of the industrial zone in order to improve the competitiveness of the municipality and the local economy. Through the EU PRO Plus program, the EU pays special attention to smaller municipalities because it is important to create a favorable business environment for investments and employment opportunities in them, so that young people have the perspective of staying to live and work in their towns," said the manager of the EU PRO Plus program, Olivera Kostić.
She reminded that in the previous period, with the support of the EU, the basis for works in the zone was laid through the development of a detailed regulation plan, and that Preševo is among the 20 local governments in the regions of Šumadija and Western Serbia and Southern and Eastern Serbia in which the EU through EU PRO Plus program with more than five million euros supports business infrastructure improvement projects. These projects aim to improve competitiveness at the local level by improving business conditions and attracting new investments.
The work in the industrial zone in Preševo, which will last 90 days, is being carried out by the company Saba Belča from Preševo, which was selected in the public procurement procedure conducted by the municipality of Preševo.
The activities of the EU PRO Plus program, which contributes to a more even socio-economic development of Serbia, are supported by the European Union with 40 million euros. The program, whose implementation is led by the Ministry of European Integration, aims to contribute to the improved management of territorial development, economic growth and the improvement of social infrastructure and cohesion in 99 local self-government units, in two regions: the Region of Šumadija and Western Serbia and the Region of Southern and Eastern Serbia. Field activities are carried out by UNOPS.
