Investing in Practical Training: GIZ Supports the Modernisation of Equipment
A handover agreement for valuable equipment was signed at the Public Institution “First Secondary School” Cazin. The procurement of the equipment was supported through a GIZ programme with the aim of improving the quality of vocational education and practical training.
The new equipment will enable students to work with modern tools and devices during their education, apply the knowledge acquired in the classroom and develop the practical skills needed to successfully enter the labour market.
“This support provides our students with a new opportunity to transform the knowledge acquired in the classroom into real, practical skills. Modern equipment will allow them not only to learn about certain procedures in theory but also to perform them independently under the professional guidance of their teachers. At the same time, it provides our teachers with better conditions for delivering high-quality practical training and preparing students for the challenges of their future professions,” said Arijana Delić, Acting Principal of the Public Institution “First Secondary School” Cazin.
According to Delić, it is particularly important for practical training to reflect labour market needs and for students to acquire knowledge and competencies that will make their path to employment easier.
“This is not merely an investment in equipment. It is an investment in our students, their independence and their future. We would like to thank GIZ and the governments of Germany and Switzerland, which supported the modernisation and improvement of vocational education through the Sustainable Economic Development and Employment Promotion Programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Delić added.
More Than BAM 300,000 for Modern Equipment
Support for the Public Institution “First Secondary School” Cazin forms part of broader efforts to modernise practical training in secondary vocational schools across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
A total of ten secondary vocational schools from Una-Sana Canton, Sarajevo Canton and Tuzla Canton received modern equipment for educating students in the fields of automotive mechanics and automotive mechatronics, with a combined value exceeding BAM 300,000.
The equipment will provide students with higher-quality practical learning and direct experience with modern technologies and tools, bringing their education closer to real working conditions and labour market requirements.
The project forms part of the Sustainable Economic Development and Employment Promotion Programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina (SEDEP), which supports the modernisation of practical training and the development of young people’s skills through its Vocational Education and Training (VET) component. The VET component is co-financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Government of Switzerland and implemented by GIZ.
