Serbia receives first 56.5 million euros from EU Growth Plan
The Republic of Serbia has officially received approval from the European Commission for the payment of the first tranche amounting to EUR 56.5 million from the Reform and Growth Facility, within the framework of the European Union’s Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.
With this decision, the European Commission has confirmed that Serbia has fully met the three steps under the first payment request, thereby demonstrating exceptional progress and commitment in implementing the agreed Reform Agenda. The payment will be made after the completion of the prescribed procedure.
It is important to note that Serbia is maintaining steady and well-paced reform momentum, as confirmed by the fact that it has already successfully received pre-financing of EUR 111 million, while evaluation processes for the next two submitted tranches are currently underway.
With the approval of this first tranche, Serbia has secured, in absolute terms, the highest amount of approved funding among all Western Balkan partners under this mechanism. The total approved funds for Serbia (pre-financing and the first tranche combined) exceed the amounts granted to some partners in the region even after two tranches. This success is further underscored by the fact that, unlike some other countries in the region, Serbia has not faced any reduction in its allocated funds.
The assessment of the eligibility for the second tranche is currently underway, while the third payment request, valued at EUR 95 million, was submitted on 15 January 2026 and includes eight additional reform steps.
The Government of the Republic of Serbia remains unwaveringly committed to the continued implementation of the Reform Agenda, which it views as a key driver of economically beneficial reforms and a powerful tool for accelerating European integration. This process aims to deliver visible and tangible benefits to the citizens and economy of Serbia in the shortest possible time.
