Putin orders reservists to guard oil sites from Ukraine’s drones
Vladimir Putin has ordered army reservists to defend oil refineries from Ukraine’s drone blitz targeting Russia’s energy infrastructure.
The Russian president signed a law on Tuesday calling on the estimated two million reservists, according to Kremlin figures, to protect facilities from the increasingly frequent attacks.
Ukrainian explosive-laden drones have roamed as far as 1,800km into Russian territory in recent months, hitting refineries, oil depots, pipelines and pumping stations in an effort to rouse domestic discontent and drain Moscow’s war chest.
