Poland is busy preparing for the worst: 'War with Russia is likely... And very soon'

A senior Polish defense official says there is a serious risk of war with Russia facing the country in the next 3 to 10 years Written by: Tomislav Šoštarić

Polish Deputy Minister of Defense Marcin Ociepa stated that there is a serious risk of a war with Russia that the country will face in the next 3 to 10 years, Polish media Dziennik Gazeta Prawna reports. According to this information, he warned that the country must use the current time for maximum arming of the Polish army.

Ociepa added that this possible outcome will be related to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Speaking about the time frame, Ociepa noted that Poland expects Russia to need exactly that many years to rebuild its military potential, adding that Poland should spend that time on fully modernizing its military, regardless of the cost, reports Al Mayadeen Arabic television channel.

"We should use this time to fully re-equip the Polish army... Our task is to find that money and spend it well," the minister said.

In the draft state budget for next year, as he stated, record expenditures for the army are planned - more than 20 billion euros (97 billion Polish zlotys), of which 8.5 billion are capital expenditures intended mainly for the implementation of investments and investment purchases by the Ministry of National defense.

"Maximum armament"
The pro-Kremlin Russia Today (RT) also reported on Marcin Ociepa's statements.

"There is a serious risk of war with Russia," Ociepa said, adding that the timing of this potential war depends "on how the conflict in Ukraine ends," RT reports.

According to the Polish official, it would ultimately depend on "how many years Russia will need to rebuild its military potential," it said, adding that Ociepa did not mention any additional factors that could increase or decrease the risk of conflict.

Ociepa raised the issue while describing the "geopolitical reality" that, as reported by RT, allegedly forced Poland to rapidly increase its defense potential.

"We must use this time to rearm the Polish army as much as possible," he told the newspaper, while defending what Polish media called a "record" defense budget, augmented by certain "undefined" additional costs.

Warsaw has been pointing to the alleged threat from Russia for a long time - since the launch of Moscow's military operation in Ukraine at the end of February, Poland, together with the Baltic states, has been asking the US and NATO for additional military support, citing this alleged threat, RT states, among other things. .

Tank superpower

Poland will become a tank superpower, in ten years it will have more tanks than the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy combined, the Popular Mechanics magazine, which specializes in military issues, reported recently.

Recently, the American company General Dynamics Land Systems announced that it signed a contract with the Polish government for the sale of 250 M1A2 Abrams tanks. The contract is worth 1.15 billion dollars, or 4.6 million dollars per tank, which Jutarnji list previously reported.

It is part of an even larger deal worth a total of six billion dollars, which also includes the procurement of 26 Hercules (armored rescue vehicles), 776 tank machine guns, a huge amount of tank ammunition, simulators, five years of training and technical support...

The news of the signing of the US tank contract comes after Poland signed an even more valuable contract with South Korea for the purchase of a whopping 980 K2 Black Panther tanks, 648 K-9 Krab self-propelled howitzers and 48 FA-50 advanced trainer/light fighter aircraft.
