Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Branko Ruzic attended today the opening of a new building of the Faculty of Organisational Sciences (FON) of Belgrade University, which the Serbian government financed with approximately €9 million.

Brnabic underlined that FON has always been one of the most sought-after faculties, but it lacked space, which is why the government decided to make a new building.
She pointed out that from the first loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for investment in education and innovation, the science parks in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis were built, as well as the additional building of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Nis and the new building of FON.
All this was done with the aim of strengthening and expanding capacities of our faculties so that they could offer education to as many students as possible, who will then contribute to the development and competitiveness of our country tomorrow, the Prime Minister underlined.
According to her, owing to the new building of FON, 25 to 30 percent more students will be enrolled than in 2018 and our economy will be that much stronger.
Brnabic said that the government is also to make buildings of BioSense Institute in Novi Sad, Centre of Excellence in Kragujevac and Science Park in Krusevac.
Ruzic said that almost €9 million have been invested in more than 6,000 square metres of the new space and added that the fact that students of FON won the Saint Sava Award this year and beat many foreign faculties speaks about the potential of our country.
Dean of FON Milan Martic underlined that for some twenty years already FON has been the leading faculty in the field of information systems, management and organisational sciences and that the interest in enrolment at all three levels is very high.
Head of EIB for Western Balkans Alessandro Bragonzi commended the fact that one part of the €200 million loan was used for the upgrade of the existing education institutions in Serbia.
This creates better conditions for education, and this encourages competitiveness and development which will enable Serbia to better face future challenges, he concluded.
