Moldovan army receives modern logistics vehicles from the European Union

Today, the National Army of the Republic of Moldova received a new batch of logistics vehicles from the European Union through the European Peace Facility (EPF).

The delivery includes 66 vehicles (buses, trucks, minibuses, SUVs, and pickup trucks), with a total value estimated at over €5 million.

During the official handover ceremony held at Military Camp 142, Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatîi expressed his gratitude to the EU for its support through the EPF assistance platform.

“This support, among many others, is a clear example of the effective cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union and a proof of our shared commitment to strengthening our defence capabilities,” said Anatolie Nosatîi.

“The EU’s support in the field of security and defense is guided by a clear principle – strengthening the Republic of Moldova’s capacity to protect its citizens while fully respecting its constitutional neutrality,” said the Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, Máté Csicsai. “Our assistance focuses on modernisation, efficiency, and preparedness to address challenges in a peaceful and responsible manner.”

In 2021, the European Union launched the European Peace Facility as a support platform. In the same year, the European Council approved the first tranche of aid for the Republic of Moldova’s defense system. The initial package amounted to €7 million. This support was later increased to €197 million.

The assistance aims to strengthen Moldova’s defence capacities by equipping the National Army with medical, engineering, logistical, tactical communications, air surveillance, command and control, mobility, and cyber defence equipment.
