Today, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the Ambassador of Switzerland in Kosovo, Thomas Kolly, in an organized ceremony signed a memorandum of cooperation in support of the Inter-Ministerial Water Council, reports albinfo.ch.
Also present were the Minister of the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, Liburn Aliu, and the Minister of the Ministry of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli.
It is worth noting that the memorandum of cooperation aims to create a favorable legal framework, structure for long-term management and functional relationships between stakeholders and institutions to promote cooperation and reforms in the water sector and to provide high quality services to all sectors of the population.
The impact of this support will increase access for the population of Kosovo to state (planned, regulated and supervised) water resources and water resources management (water supply, sewerage and irrigation).
Prior to the signing of the memorandum, Prime Minister Kurti and Ambassador Kolly had a long conversation, where Ambassador Kolly reiterated Switzerland's support for the Republic of Kosovo and the importance of intensifying cooperation.
Prime Minister Kurti, meanwhile, thanked the ambassador for all the assistance of the Swiss government over the years. He expressed his gratitude especially for the generous assistance in advancing the water sector from the urgent post-war phase to the development phase, but also in preparing for the future.
The Prime Minister praised Switzerland's unique approach among donors to develop the sector from the rural level to public enterprises, institutions and policy-making through the Inter-Ministerial Water Council.
The meeting focused on the commitment of the two ministers, Aliu and Rizvanolli, in the environmental and economic aspect of water resources, engaging in restoring and strengthening the rule of law, in protecting water resources, but also in the performance of regional water companies and boards. of them.
