Kosovo receives 5 million euro grant from the EU for the rehabilitation and expansion of the wastewater network in Mitrovica and Vushtrri

The Minister of Finance, Labor and Transfers, Mr. Hekuran Murati, signed today the grant agreement worth 5 million euro, together with the Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Mr. Sergiy Maslichenko, and the representative of the Regional Water Supply Company “Mitrovica”, Mr. Bashkim Kurti.
This grant is part of the project for the development of wastewater infrastructure in the Mitrovica region, and foresees the construction of a modern wastewater treatment plant, as well as the rehabilitation and expansion of the existing network in the municipalities of Mitrovica and Vushtrri, including the surrounding areas.
The project will significantly improve the living conditions of around 123,000 residents of this area, significantly reducing environmental pollution and contributing to the protection of local water resources from untreated wastewater discharges.
So far, the total value of financing for this project amounts to around 38 million euros, with a grant of 5 million euros secured as a result of Kosovo’s successful application to the Western Balkans Investment Framework. This agreement is a testament to the commitment to sustainable development, environmental protection and ensuring quality services for citizens.
