CYBERCRIME INVESTIGATION TRAINING

Electronic evidence is a component of almost all criminal activities and digital forensics support is crucial for law enforcement investigations. The purpose of digital forensics is to identify and preserve the digital evidence in its original form, to make it possible for relevant investigation procedures to be performed and conclusions made.

In order to improve technics and skills of identifying, acquiring, processing, analyzing, and reporting on data stored electronically, investigation technics used in Germany and EU have been presented to the police investigators and prosecutors. More than 20 police investigators and prosecutors of the Anti-Corruption Departments have participated in the first out of two five-day „Cybercrime Investigation Training“ held by cybercrime investigation experts from the North Rhine-Westphalia Police - Harald Lennemann, MSc. Forensic Computing & Cybercrime Investigation First Detective Chief Inspector (rtd.) and Christian Martinek, Head of Unit – Cybercrime, Legal Interception First Detective Chief Inspector. The training included presentation of network and e-amil protocols, DHCP/DNS, webserver tracing, as well as several useful advanced technics for analyzing tracks and traces, as well as the practical exercises.

Cybercrime Investigation Training for police investigators and prosecutors was supported by „Facility Supporting Strengthening Rule of Law in Serbia“, co-financed by EU and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and implemented by GIZ.
