Arson

The reluctance of Russian politicians and propagandists regarding yet another conflict over Karabakh may, at first glance, be surprising. After all, no matter how strong the Kremlin's hatred of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is and no matter how great the irritation with the Armenian leadership's attempts to get closer to the West, the conflict itself once again highlights the failure of Russian influence in the post-Soviet space and the impotence — real or intended — of Russian "peacekeepers."
In the last days of the Second Karabakh War, Russia's peacekeeping role was recognized literally everywhere — both in Armenia, and in Azerbaijan, and in Turkey, and in the West, and, of course, in Karabakh itself. Currently, Azerbaijan simply ignores the presence of Russian peacekeeping forces in the region, in Armenia protesters block the Russian embassy in Yerevan, in Turkey they do not mention the Russian role, in the West they try to act independently and no longer count on Moscow. And from the shelled Karabakh itself, curses and accusations are directed at Russia. Why rejoice?
But the Kremlin, I think, is actually interested in not only "punishing" the Armenian Prime Minister and his people. What Vladimir Putin is currently interested in is creating conflict situations wherever possible. It is such a tactic of arson, when they "pour gasoline" and set it on fire, when they create many conflict situations, and the "enemies of Russia" need to put out those fires, to distract themselves from Putin's war in Ukraine. Yes, that's right. The current escalation in Karabakh is a continuation not only of the Second Karabakh War, but also, I am sure, of Putin's war against Ukraine. Like all other crises that Russia either initiates or does not want to interfere in their resolution. Simply put, the US Secretary of State's phone should be ringing non-stop, and the pleas for help should be getting louder and louder.
Vladimir Putin behaved in approximately the same way in 2014 when he made the decision to annex Crimea. In Moscow, they fully understood that they are violating all imaginable and existing norms of international law and that the pressure on Russia due to the occupation of Crimea will only increase. But if attention is diverted by the crisis in the east and south of Ukraine, the West will no longer care about Crimea. Therefore, the "burning" of Donbass, the attempted rebellion in Kharkiv and Odesa — all this was not only the implementation of the plan to seize the Ukrainian east, but also to divert attention from the already adopted decision on annexation. And as a result of this interference, a multi-year war arose in Donbass. How in February 2022, due to the desire to change the government in Ukraine and "distract attention" from the annexation of Donbass, the great war in Ukraine began. This, by the way, can happen with every new arson of the Kremlin: they will bet on a local crisis and a big fire will break out.
By the way, that's why they try not to give matches to children - because they don't really understand the consequences of their actions. Today's Moscow has a similar psychology of an idiot: he can set fire, but what to do if the fire breaks out and approaches his own house, he does not know and does not even think about it, it is not a short-term tactical decision. This is a danger for Russia as well. The country, which possesses a significant nuclear arsenal, is led by hooligans who can't see beyond their own noses and is so in love with generating crises and tragedies that its politicians and "experts" don't even try to hide their joy in relation to other people's misfortune.
