Armenia: TUMO Kapan innovation centre opens with EU, EIB and EBRD support

EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos joined the Simonian Educational Foundation and the Municipality of Kapan, Syunik region of Armenia, to celebrate the opening of the TUMO Kapan centre. The Innovation Centre is designed to foster education, technology and creativity among young people in Kapan and beyond.
“TUMO Kapan exemplifies the European Union’s commitment to innovation and supporting regional development in Armenia,” EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos said in his opening remarks. “This centre will not only equip young people with the skills to thrive locally but will also contribute to the sustainable economic development and resilience of the Syunik region. Our partnership with TUMO is a key part of the EU’s broader mission to invest in human capital, strengthen local economies, and prepare the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs who will shape the future of Armenia.”
TUMO Kapan is a flagship project within the Resilient Syunik Team Europe Initiative which is the joint undertaking of the EU, the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, several EU Member States and Switzerland, with a common goal to promote sustainable socio-economic development of Syunik.
