Ambassador Hovenier’s Remarks at the Donation Ceremony for CT Scanner at HUCSK, July 30, 2024
Minister Vitia, HUCSK Director Mr. Azizi, Radiology Director Dr. Nuza, clinic staff, guests.
Today, I am pleased to join you in celebrating the donation by the United States of America of a new CT Scanner to the Emergency Clinic’s Radiology department here at the Hospital and University Clinical Service of Kosovo.
This humanitarian assistance project, funded by the U.S. European Command and coordinated by our Embassy’s Office of Defense Cooperation, reflects the United States’ commitment to enhancing healthcare services for all Kosovan citizens.
Valued at nearly $500,000, this CT Scanner will not only bolster the Emergency Clinic’s capabilities but also elevate the standards of care in the Radiology Department.
We are committed to supporting your efforts to improve the level of health care in Kosovan hospitals, and this has been evident for many years.
Through the U.S. European Command’s Humanitarian Assistance Program, we have invested nearly $6 million in this University Hospital.
This ongoing partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Clinical Center’s leadership underscores our dedication to providing essential resources and infrastructure. We strongly believe a nation’s strength ultimately resides in the health of its people.
The United States’ commitment to the people of Kosovo remains as strong as it has ever been.
This donation symbolizes our continued solidarity and commitment and reflects the lasting partnership between the United States and Kosovo—a partnership grounded in mutual respect and shared aspirations for a healthier future.
I want to particularly acknowledge Ms. Mirjeta Bunjaku Zeqiri from the hospital administration for her outstanding cooperation and support throughout the duration of the project.
I also want to thank contractors “Philips” and “Unicare” for their cooperation and efforts in preparing the room for the CT Scanner installation and ensuring that the equipment was installed on schedule and according to the appropriate standards.
Finally, thank you to all of you gathered here today. I applaud your commitment to Kosovo’s healthcare system. Together, through collaborative efforts like this, we are not only building bridges but also paving the way for a brighter, more inclusive future for all Kosovan citizens.
