In Bjelovar, the Minister of Regional Development and European Union Funds, Nataša Mikuš Žigman, presented four contracts and two decisions on the allocation of grants for new development projects in the urban area of Bjelovar, worth a total of almost 23.3 million euros, of which more than 17 million euros are EU grants. These are projects financed through the Integrated Territorial Investments mechanism, through which 22 million euros have been secured for the Urban Area of Bjelovar in this financial perspective.
Thus, the "Green Center" project will be implemented in Bjelovar, which includes the construction and equipping of space for a market, economic events, fairs and rentals, and an underground garage, with the establishment of a Park'n'Ride system. In addition, a sports hall will be renovated and an athletics stadium will be reconstructed and equipped. In the municipality of Kapela, an existing neglected building will be converted into the Jabučeta multipurpose center, while multifunctional sports and educational centers will be built and equipped in the municipalities of Štefanje and Rovišće.
During the contract presentation, Minister Mikuš Žigman reminded that more than 680 million euros have been secured through the ITU mechanism for investments in 22 cities in county centers and their urban areas, because cities are recognized as drivers of development and have the greatest responsibility to be generators of new ideas, knowledge, innovations and sustainable development.
After the contract presentation, Minister Mikuš Žigman, Mayor of Bjelovar Dario Hrebak and County Prefect of Bjelovar-Bilogora Marko Marušić visited the Hall of European Champions, which, thanks to investments from the ITU mechanism, will be transformed into a modern, multi-purpose infrastructure intended for holding sports and educational events.
