Last year, the EU supported Serbia through the sectoral budget support worth EUR 165 million. The state allocated part of those grants to the distribution sector for network improvements – which includes the replacement of meters.

The European Union is the largest donor in the energy sector, with investments exceeding one billion euros in grant funds since 2000. In Serbia, the EU finances projects aimed at security of supply, diversification of energy sources, market liberalisation and improvement of energy efficiency.
