Montenegro is again in the IPA 8 program

The Advisory Committee of the European Drug Monitoring Center decided

Montenegro is again included in the IPA 8 program for the period 2023-2026. year, which includes the promotion and support of the adoption of best practices and access to the European Union in the Western Balkans in the areas of health and security and strengthening of strategic and operational cooperation in the field of drug monitoring and information, was decided at a meeting of the Advisory Committee of the European Center for Monitoring Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDD), which was held on April 19 in Brussels.

The total budget of this program is 1.5 million euros, and the beneficiary countries are Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and Macedonia.

Through this financial perspective, it is envisaged that activities will be carried out to establish an operational National Drug Unit and a National Early Warning System on new psychoactive substances in each of the beneficiary countries, as well as the gradual harmonization of the national data of each beneficiary with EU standards.

The European Commission praised the previous results of the Ministry of Health and the competent institutions in this area and encouraged them to continue with activities on the development of the National Drug Unit, in accordance with the obligations assumed under the negotiation chapter 24.
