Denmark donated medical devices and protective equipment worth about 1m euros to Montenegro

Through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism

The Government of the Kingdom of Denmark has donated to Montenegro, through the EU Mechanism for Civil Protection, significant medical devices and protective equipment for the fight against the kovida-19 pandemic, worth about one million euros. The donation includes 15 defibrillators, 29 patient monitors and larger quantities of surgical gowns, visors, high-quality protective masks and other medical devices and protective equipment.

"I am pleased that Denmark is contributing to Montenegro's fight against kovid-19. As part of the European family, Montenegro and Denmark have a common interest in cooperating and helping each other. "I hope that this Danish donation of emergency equipment to Montenegro once again shows how small countries, such as Denmark, can do a lot and achieve a significant result," said Danish Ambassador to Montenegro Susan Shine.

On behalf of the Ministry of the Interior, as the recipient of the donation, the Acting Director General of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue Miodrag Besovic said that the pandemic showed all the weight and complexity of the health situation, while also highlighting human solidarity and empathy, as well as interstate cooperation and understanding.

"This assistance is a confirmation of such a relationship and proof that Montenegro has a sincere friend in European partners, who have repeatedly expressed their readiness to help in such difficult circumstances." Although the situation in Montenegro is currently very stable, it still calls on us to be careful and demands from us full responsibility in implementing the recommendations of the competent services and bodies. Certainly, this donation will help the health system of Montenegro in the fight against coronavirus, and from that aspect, we additionally appreciate the value of this donation, "said Bešović.

The director of the Clinical Center of Montenegro, Ljiljana Radulović, thanked for the valuable donation.

"On behalf of the complete health system of Montenegro and each of our patients, I thank you for the valuable donation of the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark through which we provided 15 defibrillators brand Lifepak 20e and 29 patient monitors brand Comen C90 and 75,600 protective disposable surgical gowns, 76,800 protective masks type FFP2, 76,800 visors / face shields. The Clinical Center of Montenegro, as the umbrella health institution in Montenegro, has been assigned 12 defibrillators and 20 patient monitors, while one defibrillator and three patient monitors have been allocated for hospitals in Kotor, Berane and Bijelo Polje. Donations are never reduced to appliances because their value makes full sense when a person breathes or comes to life with their help. I thank you once again for the generosity that Montenegro, as before, will know how to appreciate, "said Dr. Ljiljana Radulovic, director of the Clinical Center of Montenegro.

EU Ambassador to Montenegro Oana Kristina Popa reminded that since the outbreak of the kovida-19 pandemic, the European Union has continuously shown solidarity with Montenegro.

"We have provided over 115 million euros in grants and soft loans, helping to protect health workers, improve public health and preserve thousands of jobs. Although the epidemiological situation in Montenegro has improved, we remain committed to providing further support and building the resilience of the Montenegrin health system. This delivery of ambulance by the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark, through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, is another confirmation that the EU and its member states, along with Montenegro, are in good and bad, "said Ambassador Popa.
