Work has begun on the wastewater treatment plant in Belišće

With the laying of the foundation stone, work on the sewage treatment plant in Belišće, worth HRK 55.8 million, which is part of the Valpovo-Belišće Water Supply and Drainage Project, officially began.

The foundation stone was laid today by the President of the Osijek-Baranja County Assembly and representative of the Osijek-Baranja Prefect Ivana Bagarić, representative in the Croatian Parliament Goran Ivanović, general director of Croatian Waters Zoran Đuroković and deputy mayor of Belišće Ljerka Vučković.

The value of the entire Valpovo-Belišće Water Supply and Drainage Project is HRK 386 million including VAT, of which HRK 189.5 million are non-reimbursable EU funds, and HRK 82 million in national co-financing (Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and Croatian Water each with HRK 35.5 million HRK and local level HRK 10.9 million).
The project will reduce the discharge of partially purified and untreated wastewater into the Danube basin (sensitive areas) and contribute to the protection of water resources and ensuring a quality water supply for the population.

The overall project ensures wastewater treatment for 4 agglomerations for a total of 37,000 ES. The construction of the drainage system enables the construction of new 3,500 household connections, which is planned to connect additional approx. 9,900 inhabitants to the drainage system, and the efficiency of the complete water and communal system in the project area is increased.
