With the support of the European Union and the International Labor Organization, the implementation of the "Step to Work - Training and Employment of the Unemployed in East Sarajevo" project began
Within the framework of the project "Support of the European Union to local partnerships for employment - Phase II" (LEP II - Local Employment Partnership), the project "Step to work" started to be realized, which is implemented by the Local Partnership for Employment (LPZ) East Sarajevo, whose main carrier is the City Development RAIS agency. In addition to RAIS, eight other partner organizations and institutions are participating in the project. Enterprise Development Agency Eda Banja Luka, City of East Sarajevo, Municipality of East Novo Sarajevo, Municipality of East Ilidža, Employment Agency of the Republic of Srpska, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of East Sarajevo, Eko Željeznica d.o.o. Istočna Ilidža and Zlatno Zrno sp Istočno Novo Sarajevo are partners in the project.
The goal of the project, which will last 21 months, is to reduce unemployment through increasing qualifications and successful integration of the unemployed, with special attention to the more difficult employable categories, in order to create a more sustainable and inclusive labor market. By 2026, fewer than 4,000 unemployed people are expected in the area of the city of East Sarajevo. The outcome of the project will be the joint and continuous work of all participants in the labor market on the implementation of initiatives aimed at harmonizing supply and demand on the labor market.
"The implementation of project activities is expected to improve the capacity of educational institutions, improve the knowledge and skills of unemployed people, and establish a mechanism to support the start-up and development of new businesses. The established operating platform "Job Exchange East Sarajevo", which will contain information on the current supply and demand of labor force, will be another result of the project aimed at permanently reducing unemployment in the city area", emphasized Mladenka Pandurević, director of the Development Agency East Sarajevo- RAIS after signing the contract with the International Labor Organization (ILO), which officially started the implementation of the "Step to Work" project, which will be implemented in the area of the City of East Sarajevo, the municipalities of East Novo Sarajevo, East Ilidža, Sokolac, East Stari Grad, and Trnovo (RS) . The total value of the project is EUR 185,988.69, of which the amount of grant funds from the European Union is EUR 166,140.00, and the rest of EUR 19,848 is self-financing by the City Development Agency - RAIS.
Local partnership for employment East Sarajevo is one of 26 partnerships established in BiH within the project "Support of the European Union to local partnerships for employment - Phase II" (LEP II), financed by the European Union with 6 million euros, and implemented by the International Labor Organization). This project aims to contribute to the improvement of employment in local communities through local employment partnerships and improve the skills and opportunities for employment of persons in a disadvantageous position on the labor market.
