Vučković has given 79.2 million euros worth of contracts for water supply and drainage.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, Marija Vučković, today, at the celebration of Croatian Waters Day, handed over nine contracts for the allocation of EU grants, worth 79.2 million euros, for water supply and drainage and flood risk reduction.
The contracts are financed from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism through activities within the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026, and seven of them relate to public water supply and drainage system projects, and two to disaster risk reduction, i.e. floods.
The total value of the nine contracts is 79.2 million euros, 63.4 of which are eligible costs and 52.1 are grants.
They are investing significant funds in the water utility economy, amounting to billions of euros
Minister Vučković has pointed out that significant funds are being invested in the water utility economy, and it is about billions of euros.
"The value of about 60 projects in the water and communal infrastructure without projects related to reducing the risk of flooding is close to 3.5 billion euros at the moment," the minister pointed out.
Vučković stated that one of the biggest projects relates to Zagreb, that is, to the rehabilitation of critical points and the construction of a little more than 30 kilometers of network, and some additional investments will be financed for damages in certain settlements.
The total value of that project is 19 million euros, 12.3 of which are grants.
She emphasized that another project relates to Zagreb, to the arrangement of the embankment, and is worth a total of 3.65 million euros. In the Zagreb area, embankments will be strengthened at three locations, which will increase citizens' safety from floods.
Director of Zagreb Water Supply and Drainage, Marko Blažević, said that they received 12.3 million euros for the development of water supply and drainage, expansion of the network and rehabilitation of pipelines. It is about 50 projects for more than 30 kilometers of construction of the water supply network, and the goal is to reconstruct the network and reduce losses, and to build and expand the network to connect new facilities.
The general director of Croatian Waters, Zoran Đuroković, pointed out that contracts were awarded today for a new 73 kilometers of water supply, almost 60 kilometers of drainage, and five waste water treatment devices. In addition to Zagreb, contracts were also awarded to Đurđevac, Slatina, Garešnica, Metković, Osijek and Jastrebarsko and for the revitalization project of Lake Trakošćan in order to reduce the risk of floods.
Investments of 215 million euros in flood defense systems
Đuroković points out that they have awarded a total of 229 contracts for the water utility sector and for the water management sector of Croatian Waters, which will enable works worth one and a half billion euros on water supply and drainage and 215 million euros of investment in flood defense systems.
On the occasion of Croatian Waters Day, Vučković congratulated everyone who contributed to good and organized 148-year-long water management in Croatia.
