Virovitica: The only mobile plant in Croatia for processing construction and bulky municipal waste put into operation

After a long series of years in the area of the city of Virovitica, but also the entire Virovitica-Podravina County, the problem of construction waste disposal will be solved. The company Flora VTC has established and put into operation a mobile plant for the treatment of construction and bulky municipal waste. This EU project is worth over 7 million kuna, and European funds cover 50 percent of the total investment.

The project procured a mobile multi-purpose crusher for construction and bulky waste, a mobile sieve for construction waste, an excavator loader with attachment baskets and hydraulic tools, a telescopic loader, a mobile water cannon for dust suppression, a gas motor unit, a hydraulic hammer, a hydraulic hammer, a hydraulic hammer, a hydraulic hammer work tools and the like.

The presentation of the mobile plant was held on Thursday, November 4th at the City Landfill in Virovitica, and was attended by Virovitica-Podravina County Igor Andrović, Virovitica Mayor Ivica Kirin, Head of the Administrative Department for Communal Affairs, Physical Planning and Construction of Virovitica Kristijan Sabo, Head Antonio Dražić of the Administrative Department for Finance and Economy of the City of Virovitica, Željko Iharoš, Director of Flora VTC, Vlado Šušak, Manager of Flora VTC and others.

The aim of this project was to ensure the use of 70 percent of the generated construction waste in the Virovitica-Podravina County.

- I would like to express my great satisfaction that after a long time we have solved one big problem at the county level, and that is the disposal of construction waste. Unfortunately, builders and citizens have not had that opportunity so far. The specificity of this plant is that it is the only one in Croatia that has a mobile character. So in a very short time, this can be transferred to the very location of construction or bulky waste, which is then resolved on the spot. The advantages are lower costs as there is no transport, and potential environmental pollution is avoided. The processing effect is relatively large, approximately seventy tons per hour. We have work to do, we are already ‘reserved’ for the next six months, which really surprised us. We hope that the plant will work successfully and without too many breakdowns, said the manager of the company Flora VTC Vladimir Šušak.

The biggest advantage of this plant is that most of the material that will be "crushed" will be returned to use. According to V. Šušak, part of it will be used to fill field roads, and part that cannot be used to cover the City landfill.

Virovitica has started a great development in the last few years. There are a lot of new buildings, a lot of ‘demolition’ and a large amount of construction waste is automatically generated, which will now be able to be disposed of legally and in an adequate way, so this one, for the city of Virovitica, but also the entire Virovitica-Podravina County, an excellent project also praised by the Mayor Ivica Kirin.

- We have finally solved the problem of construction and bulky waste. I must mention that the City of Virovitica will also introduce some innovations, ie decisions will change and everyone who builds or demolishes a house will have to prove that they disposed of construction waste in order to get a use permit. I believe that this will prevent it from reaching nature, ie wild landfills. Also, we will now finally arrange all our field roads, which is especially important for farmers, said Mayor Ivica Kirin, adding that the project solved the problem of construction in the city of Virovitica and the entire Virovitica-Podravina County.

- Every city or municipality can now designate a temporary landfill, and when a certain amount of waste is accumulated, simply call the company Flora that will come, shred all the material and charge only the operating costs, ie the cost of labor and costs at the plant, he added. is Mayor Kirin.

This praiseworthy project was also supported by Virovitica-Podravina County Prefect Igor Andrović.

- This is definitely a project of great importance not only for Virovitica, but also other cities and municipalities in our county, which so far have not had the opportunity to adequately dispose of such waste. It is important to emphasize that, after disposal, ie crushing, this construction waste can be used for other purposes. I believe that the problem of construction waste in the entire Virovitica-Podravina County will end today - concluded Prefect Andrović.

The total value of the project is HRK 5,699,230 (excluding VAT), and part of the funds is financed from the operational program "Competitiveness and Cohesion" in the amount of HRK 2,818,527.06. The project holder is Flora VTC, and it was made in cooperation with the VTA Development Agency.
