The state budget receives 530 million euros from the European Union for the European Social Fund

On July 28, 2023, the Republic of Croatia submitted the largest request for payment to the European Commission  in the amount of EUR 530 million . With these funds, the amount will be paid into the budget to co-finance the job preservation measure from the European Social Fund (ESF) , within the framework of the Union's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, REACT EU.

This achieved 92% of the withdrawn funds of the European Social Fund,  one year before the final deadline. The stated amount includes funds already paid to companies for maintaining employees' jobs during the duration of the COVID crisis.

The measure ensured the stability of the labor market and the economy during 2020 and 2021, and for Croatia the additional REACT EU funds meant important support from the European Union in the fight against the consequences of the COVID 19 pandemic.
