The EU continues to support implementation of connectivity transport reform measures in the Western Balkans
On 27 May 2022, a joint virtual event was hosted by the EU-funded Technical Assistance to Connectivity in the Western Balkans - CONNECTA and the Transport Community Permanent Secretariat to present the sub-projects’ objectives, strategic approach and expected results.
The event brought together representatives of the Western Balkans, EU Delegations and International Financial Institutions.
The European Union remains committed to assisting the Western Balkans partners in developing safer, more efficient, interoperable, sustainable, and climate-proof transport systems.
To address the major EU-Western Balkans initiatives for implementation of the connectivity reform measures in the transport sector, CONNECTA has recently commenced three regional sub-projects:
- Technical Assistance for the Deployment of Smart and Sustainable Mobility in the Western Balkans;
- Technical Assistance for preparation of technical documentation for modernisation and infrastructure capacity improvements of selected road border crossing points (BCP) on the extended TEN-T network in the Western Balkans; and
- Technical Assistance for preparation of national ITS strategy for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo* (all modes), Albania (railway and maritime) and Montenegro (railway) and deployment of road traffic management centres in Bosnia Herzegovina and Kosovo.
