Podgorica, July 21, 2022 - During the summer heat wave, proper room temperature is essential to ensure that health services, such as preventive examinations and immunizations, can be provided to every child without interruption, and that medicines, vaccines and medical devices. For this reason, the EU and UNICEF provided 11 air conditioners for the pediatric service of the capital's Health Center in the Nova Varoš facility.

This help comes at the right time, because it will allow us to continue providing health services to all families, including immunization services, during this heat wave," said the director of the Capital City Health Center, prim. The procurement of equipment was financed by the Delegation of the European Union through the project "Strengthening the resilience and response of the health system to the covid-19 pandemic and other epidemiological risks", implemented by UNICEF. Through this initiative, during the last three years, significant investments were made in the infrastructure of the health system of Montenegro, as well as the improvement of procedures, knowledge and practices of health workers.
"It is very important that children have access to appropriate health care and that they are protected from the summer heat. We are glad that, through cooperation with UNICEF, we were able to provide this donation in the shortest possible time and help the Health Center of the Capital City and its staff to continue providing the necessary health care during the summer months", said EU Ambassador to Montenegro Oana Kristina Popa .
On a global level, UNICEF is the leading UN agency that provides support to ensure health services for every child, regardless of place and climate.
"In order for children to be examined and for vaccines to be effective even during the summer heat, the appropriate temperature in the premises of the Health Center is necessary. We are happy to be able to provide this urgent donation in order to ensure optimal conditions for continuous health care for every child and adolescent during the summer", said the head of UNICEF's representative office in Montenegro, Juan Santander.
In the coming period, UNICEF and the EU will continue to support Montenegro in recovering from the pandemic and strengthening the health system to provide quality health care for every child in all circumstances.
