Ten Cities and Municipalities from Serbia Selected for the URBACT Learning Programme

The URBACT programme call for EU candidate countries from the Western Balkans, titled URBACT Pioneers Accelerator (UPA), was open from 19 November 2024 to 22 January 2025.

This call is part of a special learning programme aimed at supporting cities and municipalities from the region in addressing specific urban challenges and finding sustainable solutions aligned with the EU framework, values, and practices of integrated sustainable urban development policy. The programme will explore best practices from EU cities and offer expert support for structured action learning using an integrated and participatory approach in project preparation and implementation.

During a meeting of the URBACT Monitoring Committee, ten cities and municipalities from the Republic of Serbia were selected to participate in the learning programme, covering different thematic areas such as sustainable mobility, waste management, urban nature and sustainable tourism.

The learning programme aims to create a generation of urban professional leaders who will shape the future of their cities in a new way and be recognised as pioneers in the region.

The programme is expected to run from May 2025 to September 2026.

The call for URBACT experts remains open throughout the URBACT programme: https://urbact.eu/get-involved.
