NEW OSIJEK HOSPITAL TO BE COMPLETED IN FIVE YEARS
The brand new Osijek Hospital (KBC Osijek) is worth a massive 715 million euros and is set to be completed in five years.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the promising new Osijek Hospital, worth a total of 715 million euros, should be completed in five years. The new healthcare facility’s address will be in Gacka street in Osijek. It will extend to more than 215,000 square metres, have six above-ground and two underground floors, 1,400 parking spaces, 1,300 beds and 38 operating theatres. It was pointed out that this will significantly improve the overall level of healthcare offered to eastern Croatia’s population.
THE NEW OSIJEK HOSPITAL WILL BE SEVEN TIMES BIGGER THAN THE OPUS ARENA
The project entitled “The preparation of the strategic project for the construction of the new Osijek Hospital” which cost approximately 4.7 million euros, of which almost 4 million came from the European Fund for Regional Development, has now been completed. The design and technical documentation, as well as the study documentation required for the strategic project of building and equipping the new hospital complex were prepared as part of it. A construction permit is also expected to be rubber stamped in the first months of 2024, according to a report from Večernji list.
“The realisation of the Osijek Hospital project can be expected in the next five years, and then we can say that for sure by 2028 or 2029, we’ll have this new facility completed,” revealed Nataša Tramišak, Osijek-Baranja County’s coordinator for preparation, construction and professional support for the construction of the new Osijek Hospital.
Darko Ojvan, director of the company Respekt-ing, pointed out that this is probably the biggest project in the Republic of Croatia over the past year that was worked on by a design firm, and that the new Osijek Hospital is seven times larger than the Opus Arena football stadium. An international team of 60 engineers worked intensively for a year and delivered extremely complex documentation within the prescribed deadline.
900,000 PATIENTS…
Sanja Pešić, assistant director for financial operations of the Osijek Hospital, noted that the Osijek Clinical Hospital Centre is the only institution of the first category in the eastern part of Croatia. The region has seven healthcare institutions and about 900,000 patients for whom the goal is to provide healthcare infrastructure in accordance with current regulations and the most modern standards at both the EU and national level.
“What’s also been mentioned as a possibility and where we’ve had a certain expression of interest is the European Investment Bank, which would partly finance the construction of this large project,” said Sanja Pešić.
“After the City of Osijek donated the land for the construction of the new Osijek Hospital in Gacka street in September, last week the Croatian Government made decisions on the exchange of land for the purpose of realising this strategic project. The aforementioned decisions of the City and the Government have created the preconditions for the start of the process of obtaining a building permit for the construction of the building itself,” Osijek Mayor Ivan Radić wrote last night on his Instagram profile.
