Municipality of Nikšić supported through the URBACT IV program
The municipality of Nikšić will participate in one of the total of 10 networks of the interregional cooperation program URBACT IV, which were approved at today's meeting of the Committee for monitoring this program.
Nikšić will participate in the network for the transfer of innovations called Co-CALICO, which deals with innovative solutions to housing policy challenges, i.e. the lack of housing units. In addition to Montenegro, partner municipalities from Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain also participate in the network.
This Montenegrin municipality thus joins the municipalities of Berane, Bijelo Polje and Budva, which already participate in the URBACT program through previously approved networks for action planning (Bijelo Polje in two, and Berane and Budva in one network each).
Networks for the transfer of innovations refer to various topics dealing with social and economic aspects of sustainable urban development. The call was open from January to March of this year, and a total of 19 project proposals of networks of cities and municipalities from all over Europe were received.
URBACT IV is a program of interregional cooperation, the aim of which is to promote integrated sustainable urban development, improvement of local policies and better management of cities and municipalities. All 27 members of the European Union, followed by Norway and Switzerland, and candidate states for EU membership (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Ukraine) participate in the program. The program is co-financed by the European Union.
