Launch of the Digital Skills Programme Bootcamps

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kosovo, together with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, launched today the Digital Skills Programme (DSP) Bootcamps from which 110 young ICT and Digital Media Bachelor’s degree graduates will benefit.

The event took place at the Technical Faculty Hall of the University of Prishtina, Hasan Prishtina, in the presence of Maria Suokko, Resident Representative UNDP Kosovo, Maria Kostomay from GIZ DIMAK, Gani Ismajli of the Kosovo Employment Agency, bootcamp participants, project partner ICT companies, representatives from the training providers, professors and students, and representatives from UNDP and GIZ.

The DSP is implemented through the UNDP Active Labour Market Programmes 3 in partnership with GIZ with German financing. It will support 110 young jobseekers in developing marketable digital skills through local ICT certification centers. The programme covers the payments associated with the bootcamps as well as covers monthly allowance for over 50 internships placed within our DSP partner companies.

The ICT bootcamps are intensive short-term programs designed to equip participants with employment-ready programming skills for entry-level tech positions. They are implemented based on the Ready-to-Work (RTW) model and provide a mix of technical and practical skills directly connected to industry demand, making them a potentially effective tool for the requirements of the increasingly digitalized economy.

UNDP Kosovo is assisting Kosovo institutions in the journey of Digital Transformation through piloting the Digital Readiness Assessment (DRA) tool which is mapping out the shape, pace and types of digital transition happening in Kosovo and aims to accelerate that transition, while ensuring that no one is left behind in moving towards a whole-of-society digital masterplan.

The Digital Skills Programme is one of the two main components of the third phase of the “Active Labour Market Programmes” (ALMP) project, a partnership of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kosovo and the German Government, through Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Kosovo. The ALMP 3 project is worth more than EUR 660,000.
