Vuković reminded that in February 2020, the capital launched an initiative to protect the Gorica hill, after which the necessary activities were carried out and the formal and legal conditions were met, so this natural gem of Podgorica became a permanently protected area.

"Today we have the pleasure to celebrate what happened a month ago, the decision to declare our hill Gorica a protected natural area, i.e. a nature park. This initiative was launched by the capital in February 2020. In the meantime, all the prerequisites provided for by law have been fulfilled, so we can finally state that we have done everything to permanently protect this natural jewel of our city, said the mayor.

He thanked all the people who participated in the implementation of this project and pointed out that the Embassy of Slovakia donated funds for the installation of information boards that will bring the citizens and visitors of Podgorica closer to all that it has to offer.

"I hope that in the coming years we will protect Gorica much better than what was the case in the past and all previous years," said Vuković.

The Ambassador of Slovakia, Boris Gandel, expressed his satisfaction for participating in this project and expressed his gratitude to the mayor and the Agency for the Management of Protected Areas of Podgorica for their cooperation and dedicated relationship when it comes to the protection of natural monuments.

"Gorica is truly one of the jewels of this city and all the people of Podgorica love it very much, especially during the hot season, and it is much more pleasant here. Symbolically, a small part of Slovakia, which is a great friend of Montenegro, remains in this place, Gandel said and added that he is proud of the cooperation with the capital city, and expressed his satisfaction with the dynamic development of Podgorica, which is evident in all segments and is the result of the dedicated work of the city administration. .

The director of the Agency for the Management of Protected Areas, Dragutin Đeković, said that the information boards are made of natural materials, following all standards when it comes to signaling in protected areas of the city. Signs were placed at the main gate, at the entrance from the Zagorica side, at the Partisan Fighter Monument and at the church of St. George.

In addition to the large number of citizens who were in Gorica last night, we were especially pleased by the presence of a young fellow citizen, Stefan Peković, who is an example to many of how to protect the environment and how to love one's city. On this occasion, the tourist organization of Podgorica has also prepared content for the youngest who participated in the painting workshop on the topic I protect my city.
