FBiH Ministry of Tourism and USAID sign Memorandum on cooperation in tourism.
The FBiH Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have agreed to help the tourism sector recover from the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and lay the foundations for growth towards a sustainable tourism economy.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed today by FBiH Minister of Environment and Tourism Edita Djapo and Acting Director of the USAID Mission Robert Lopez.
USAID will assist the Ministry and other partners in developing and implementing a recovery plan, as well as in marketing a plan to attract international visitors. It will also help create a Tourism Development Strategy of the Federation of BiH for the period from 2021 to 2027, based on best international practices to improve the competitiveness of the tourism sector.
A successful strategy will also lead to increased arrivals, income, job creation and a greater contribution to GDP.
Djapo stated that the relevant ministry is actively working on the development of tourism, which is increasingly recognized as a strategic branch of the economy in the Federation of BiH, as well as on the promotion of available tourist resources.
Lopez noted that USAID has approved a wide range of technical and other assistance aimed at helping the Federation of BiH's tourism recover from the effects of COVID-19, the FBiH Ministry of Environment and Tourism said.
