EC Okays Croatia's €23m Scheme for Livestock Sector Aid

ZAGREB, 19 Nov 2021 - The European Commission has given the green light for Croatia's HRK 171 million (€23 million) scheme for support to the pandemic-hit livestock sector, the Croatian agriculture ministry said in a press release on Friday.

The scheme is in line with the Temporary State Aid Framework and the proposed measures to address serious disruptions in the cattle breeding sector are necessary, appropriate and proportional, said the ministry.

The state aid is aimed at helping livestock farmers, particularly cattle, pig, horse and poultry breeders as well as sheep and goat farms to have cash flow under their control and preserve the volume of production at the pre-pandemic levels.

The funds for animal welfare have also been raised by 130 million kuna to HRK 220 million.
