Contracts signed for the repair of roads damaged by the earthquake in Zagreb County

Contracts with contractors for the restoration of the traffic infrastructure damaged in the earthquake in Zagreb County worth 28.5 million euros were signed on Tuesday at the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure.

The holder of the project, which was co-financed with grants from the EU Solidarity Fund, is the County Road Administration of Zagreb County, and the contract was signed with six contractors for eight projects.

The Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković said that the public invitation was announced on November 24 last year. The county road administration, he said, has conducted public procurement and contracts worth 28.5 million euros are being signed. Butković also said that this project will repair 35 landslides, 32 bridges and culverts, and 29 sections of county and local roads with a total length of about 60 kilometers.

39 projects worth HRK 180 million have been contracted

He says that this is a major infrastructure project in Zagreb County. He reminds that the ministry has contracted 39 projects worth about 108 million euros related to transport infrastructure and that public invitations have been issued several times.

Of these, 24 contracts are related to the Petrin earthquake, with a total value of 56.6 million euros, and 15 contracts for the Zagreb earthquake in the amount of around 51 million euros.

"Until January 30 of this year, we paid out around 43 million euros, both for the Petrin and Zagreb earthquakes," said Butković.

He appealed to the contractors to complete their work as soon as possible, adding that he expects that the state will be in 100 percent implementation of the transport infrastructure and that the available funds will be used up.

Abbreviated procedures

Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction and State Property Branko Bačić said that the renovation can be divided into two parts: renovation of public infrastructure and public buildings, and private houses and private property.

For the reconstruction of public infrastructure and public buildings, a little more than one billion euros was provided, of which 683 million euros were for the rehabilitation of the consequences of the Zagreb earthquake and 319 million euros for the rehabilitation of the consequences of the Petrin earthquake.
He believes that the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure will not only spend the limit and allocation allocated to them for both earthquakes, but will also repair the entire system of the complete infrastructure in the part related to county roads.

He pointed out that immediately after his appointment, a new law on renovation was sent to the Parliament, and that the procedures were shortened, given that, Bačić said, the number of participants was significantly reduced from the time the request is submitted to the construction or renovation of an individual building. He also said that the number of documents and acts participating in the reconstruction process has been significantly reduced.

He also announced a shorter deadline for public procurement processes, reminding that the deadline for spending funds is June 30 this year.
Bačić also said that as of January 15, 392 million euros were spent out of the aforementioned billion euros. That money was also spent on rehabilitating the consequences of both the Petrin and Zagreb earthquakes, Bačić said.
