70 new COST actions will start in October 2022

The Committee of Senior Officials of the COST Program (CSO) has approved 70 new COST actions for funding, which will begin with the implementation of activities in early autumn 2022.

New COST actions are multidisciplinary, 47% of them cover at least two OECD areas of science and technology, while 11% cover at least three areas. Natural sciences are the most represented field in approved COST actions (represented in 50% of actions), followed by medical sciences (34%), social sciences (27%), engineering sciences and technologies (24%), agricultural sciences (13%) and humanities (11%).

70 approved COST shares in numbers:

• 16% of the main proposers in COST actions are young researchers;
• 44% of the main proposers in COST actions are women;
• 71% of COST shares are characterized by the participation of representatives of small and medium enterprises and the economy;
• 19% of the main proponents come from COST inclusion countries, including Montenegro (Inclusiveness Target Country);
• 77% of networks attracted participants from all over the world (COST International Partner / Neighborhood).

Research teams from Montenegro participated as secondary proposers in 12 approved COST actions.

Secondary nominators always have priority when appointing COST actions as members of the Management Committee (MC). Appointments in newly approved COST shares are made by first appointing secondary proposers, no later than the first meeting of the Board of Directors of each approved share.
