1.25 million BAM for 16 investments in primary agricultural production

To achieve sustainable agriculture, control of usage of natural resources and introduction of good practices, as well as the creation of new and retention of existing jobs, the European Union, through the EU4AGRI project, will support 16 BH farmers and companies with 1.25 million BAM.

This is a third public call published through EU4AGRI to support rural development, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery from the crisis caused by it.

The Public call for grants to support investments in primary agricultural production was open from December 7, 2020, to February 15, 2021, received a total of 227 applications, out of which 16 met the prescribed conditions. The selected projects proposed investments with a total value of 1.82 million BAM, of which the EU4AGRI project will finance 1.25 million BAM.

The Public call was open to individuals, entrepreneurs, cooperatives and companies actively engaged in primary agricultural production in sectors: milk production, meat production, cereal farming, fruit cultivation including wine and olive growing, vegetable cultivation and egg production. Each applicant could submit an application for funds in the amount from BAM 30.000 to BAM 200.000 (VAT not included). For every investment, applicant had to secure co-financing in the amount of minimum 35% of the total value of the proposed investment, except for the sector of fruit and vegetable production where co-financing amounts to minimum of 20%.

The EU4AGRI project will continue to support the agri-food sector in BiH in the future, and new public calls for investments intended for the competitiveness of agriculture and rural development in Bosnia and Herzegovina are expected to be published by the end of the year.

EU4AGRI is a European Union 4-year project (2020-2024) valued at EUR 20.25 million that aims to modernize the agri-food sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project is jointly implemented and co-financed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in BiH and Czech Development Agency (CzDA).
