Strengthening Security in the Adriatic: U.S. Invests $7.6M in New Maritime Surveillance System for Montenegro
On September 25, our Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), Nicole Otallah, and Defense Attaché, Rob Hamilton, along with representatives from the Montenegrin Ministry of Defense, attended the presentation and handover of a new $7.6 million maritime surveillance system to the Montenegrin Navy in Bar. This significant investment bolsters Montenegro’s Maritime Domain Awareness capabilities, enhancing NATO’s collective defense efforts in the Adriatic.
The introduction of this system is a testament to the importance of our partnership with Montenegro and our commitment to maritime security. As DCM Otallah stated, we view this investment as a wise use of resources that will further enhance security on NATO’s vital southern flank, ensuring a safer and more stable region for all NATO member states.
