Montenegro Joins NASA’s GLOBE Program to Enhance Environmental Education and Collaboration

On June 11, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Government of Montenegro and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), recognizing the integration of Montenegro into the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment program (GLOBE). GLOBE is administered by NASA with support from the U.S. National Science Foundation, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and U.S. Department of State. It began operations on Earth Day in 1995. Since then, GLOBE’s international network has grown to include representatives from more than 125 participating countries. This international science and education program focuses on promoting scientific literacy and building connections among people passionate about the environment.

On the occasion of a MoU signing, Ambassador Judy Rising Reinke highlighted the importance of the program and presented a small donation of scientific and educational equipment to high schools in Berane and Ulcinj. She stated that as the program progresses, additional equipment will become available to aid in data reporting to GLOBE.
