Glavina: 5.7 million euros for the first 45 projects that improve conditions for children's inclusion in sports

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has adopted the first Decision on the selection of project proposals for the permanently open public call "Inclusion of children and young people at risk of social exclusion in sport", which is financed by the European Social Fund Plus, and whose total allocation is 26.3 million euros. The aim of this Call is to involve as many stakeholders from the sports sector as possible with the aim of supporting activities to improve the quality of life for children and young people at risk of social exclusion, children and young people with behavioral problems and children with developmental disabilities, and the first Decision selected 45 projects worth 5.7 million euros.
"We initially secured 19 million euros for this Call, however, given the enormous interest it has generated, we have increased the allocation to more than 26 million euros. Through these projects, we want to improve access and participation of children and young people in sports activities and increase the availability of free sports activities, and that is why we are pleased that there are so many ready-made projects that can achieve this," said the Minister of Tourism and Sports Tonči Glavina, adding that this is just a continuation of the activities that the Ministry is co-financing through this Fund.

"This call builds on the project "Strengthening the Parasports System in the Republic of Croatia" where funds are specifically intended and allocated to the Croatian Paralympic Committee. All of these projects play an important role in strengthening and further promoting both parasports and children's and young people's sports in general in Croatia. It is gratifying to see that thanks to the first call, project activities are being implemented throughout Croatia with the involvement of more than 360 paraathletes and more than 50 professional parasports workers, and with these new projects, these numbers will be even higher. Every investment in Croatian sport and parasport is an investment in the future, in the generations to come,” Glavina concluded.

The next decisions on financing under this Call will be made successively upon receipt of the report from the Croatian Employment Service, which is the implementing partner, and the first decision can be found at the following link https://mint.gov.hr/javni-pozivi-i-natjecaji-11414/s-p-o-r-t/22182
