Fisheries Industry / Investments and exports in progressive parallel growth

IPARD subsidies and programs have supported the fish processing industry, increasing the funding values for this sector, up to ALL 30 million for a business.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Albania announces that in the meantime the exports of fish and seafood are the group with the highest value of sales abroad.

According to statistics, the two groups "Fish and shellfish underwater" and "Foods prepared from meat, fish and mollusks" reached a total value of 13 billion ALL in 2020, with an annual increase of 12%.

The increase in exports in this segment came after the expansion of investments, thanks to the support of programs addressed by the government to finance the fish industry.

Investments combined with the growing demand of the foreign market, have led to a significant increase in fish exports in recent years.

In the framework of the trade agreement with the EU, the Albanian fish processing industry can export to Europe about 1600 tons of processed fish, canned anchovies.
