EU’s Largest Grant to Albania: The Rehabilitation of Vorë – Hani i Hotit railway line

Today in Tirana, in the presence of representatives from the EU Delegation to Albania, EIB, EBRD, and the Albanian government, the procurement process for the largest-ever EU grant to Albania, totalling €136 million, was launched.

The project aims to rehabilitate the railway line from Vora to Hani i Hotit, connecting Albania to Montenegro and beyond. This flagship initiative will revitalize 120 km of railway tracks, modernize 12 train stations, and implement state-of-the-art safety measures, promoting greener and electrified transportation to reduce emissions and enhance regional connectivity.

By rehabilitating this railway line, we are connecting Albania with other countries of the region and the EU. This project will contribute to Albania’s socio-economic development, creating new opportunities for businesses and people. The rehabilitated railway is also a step toward a greener future. The EU continues to support Albania in achieving sustainable development and regional connectivity.
