Croatian forests ensured the construction of 10 km of new forest roads through EU funds
Hrvatske šume successfully submitted a project for the construction of forest roads in the area of the Gospić Branch, Korenica Forestry, economic unit "Trovrh-Kik". In 2022, the project was submitted to a tender for the implementation of operation type 4.3.3 "Investment in forest infrastructure", as part of the Rural Development Program of the Republic of Croatia for the period from 2014-2020. years.
The total value of the project is EUR 1,000,000.00, with a support intensity of 100%, and the construction will be financed with funds from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
The goal of the project is to ensure access to insufficiently open forest areas of state forests by building primary forest transport infrastructure, thereby enabling the smooth implementation of regular forest management works.
- In addition to carrying out works on forest management, the newly built forest roads will also be used by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs through the performance of regular work on guarding and monitoring the state border, as well as the border of the European Union. The new roads will also provide access to a narrow strip of mine-suspected area along the state border itself, i.e. provide a necessary prerequisite for the demining of this part of Lička Plješivice - said the head of the Gospić Subsidiary Forest Management Mario Stilinović, B.Sc.
